5 Self-Compassion Training for Teens with Depression and Anxiety
There are three aspects of self-compassion:
1. Mindful awareness
2. Self-kindness
3. Common humanity
To these three I add the element of being willing to take action to relieve oneâs own suffering. This component of self-compassion is drawn from Stanford Universityâs Center for Compassion and Altruism Researchâs working definition of compassion, which includes a bias to action. This bias to action is particularly impacted in teens suffering from depression and anxiety. Chapter 5 offers teachings, practices, guided meditations, and reflections to address the unique concerns of this population, with self-compassion.
